About us

Decent Work Campaign

Decent work Malaysia campaign is initiated by a group of veteran trade unionists, and activists from migrant worker organisation and NGOs. Our objective is to advocate for labour laws reform to address the problem of asymmetric power between workers and employers.

Since June 2018, we organised four consultation meetings with grass root workers and numerous small group discussions among labour organisation leaders.

The participants were key unionists from a variety of sectors, covering transport equipment industry, electronic industry, construction and timber industry, bank employees, post office workers, nurse union and the others. Migrant worker and refugee organisers, as well as foreign spouse group, were also joining the consultation process.

The decent work campaign is working closely with Global Unions Federation, a coalition of international trade union organisations together represent upwards of 200 million members.

The spokesperson of the campaign is N. Gopal Kishnam, General Secretary of National Union of Transport, Equipment and Allied Industry Workers (NUTEAIW), former Secretary-General of Malaysian Trades Union Congress.
